Michael J Green 57A AAS Arborfield B Coy (Deceased 19 Aug 09)

regretably Roger Traves sent in this sad news ............

Jim Gardner has recently informed me that Mike Green has passed away, he got the sad news from Catherine, Mike's partner.

Michael passed away in the afternoon of Wednesday 19th August in Honeybourne, Worcestershire where his family live. He died suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack. He leaves two daughters Susie and Emma Green, ex-wife Gaynor Green and partner Catherine Srdic.

His funeral service is on Wednesday 02 Sep 09 at 12:30 at Robin Hood Crematorium, Streetsbrook Rd, Shirley, Solihull B90 3NL (0121 744 1121.)
I know his daughter Susie, has expressed his families wish that anyone attending the service will be welcome at his reception at the Aston Cantlow Club afterwards.

The funeral directors are The Co-operative Service, 677 Warwick Road, Solihull B91 3DA (0121 704 1179) where family flowers and contributions can be made to "The British Heart Foundation".

I have attached a photo of Mike and memorial in 2 formats as I know some of you cannot open the most recent edition of word documents.

I must say that the 57ers are going through a bad patch at the moment, nothing but doom just lately.

I will send a sympathy card on behalf of the 57 intakes, however those who were close friends of Mike or you live not far from Solihull it would be great if you could attend the funeral service to represent us 57ers.

Mike will be officially remembered as "one of us" at our next AOBA Reunion at Arborfield in July 2010, when traditionally we lay crosses in the Memorial Garden for all those ex apprentice boys who have passed away during the past year.

We last saw Mike enjoying himself at our 50th anniversary in July 2007. I'm sure all 57ers will agree with me when I say that he will be dearly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and partner.

RSM Huxley

A few days ago we heard Dougie Huxley was not too well and so I undertook to find out what the situation is.
It appears he has an infection in one of his legs and that currently is in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Ward Lord Wagram - 02087468000. I spoke to the ward sister and she told me he was getting better, is up and about and hopefully will not be with them for too long. She said he is in good form and a pleasure to be with.

She also told me he has a telephone by his bed - 07040275442 should anyone wish to call him directly.
